Welcome to Simple Living Over 50. According to Wiki Answers there are over 40 million American’s over the age of 50 and growing each year. How many like myself are realizing that less is better, getting out of debt is freedom, and getting healthy is the key to a happy life as we get older.

My definition of Simple Living is a life with reduced stress, a life where family and friends are more important than a consumer driven lifestyle. Simple Living is living a healthy lifestyle which includes eating healthy foods, exercising each day, spending time close to nature and finding peace within yourself.

In this same sense I believe that doing things that prepare us for dealing with situations before they occur greatly increases our ability to answer that age old question, “What If?”

Many of my blogs are centered around my struggles with Type II Diabetes and finding the answers to cure myself. Many are about my struggles with smoking and the solutions I have found to quit the dirty little habit. I welcome all to comment and share idea’s and struggles of their own and encourage all who read my posts to share any information which may help them during their own personal journeys in a life over the age of 50.

“Less is better.” I love this. We’re so used to hearing the less is more philosophy but I like your version better because the focus isn’t so much on the material versus what’s most important which is our health and relationships with others. I don’t think I really recognized how true the “wisdom comes with age” statement was until after I was into my 50s. I look forward to exploring your posts and learning more about type 2 diabetes as I have several friends with this disease.
