Diabesity Challenge Day #67 – Love that Dolphin High

how-fast-do-dolphins-swim_896c44096542cc7aI remember the first time I tried explaining that weight lifting releases endorphins throughout our bodies to provide a reward for the hard work we do. The person I was explaining to thought that I said “Dolphins” instead endorphins. His response was “What the hell would I want Dolphins running through my body”. LOL

Anyway, the release of these endorphins during and after a hard weight lifting session really are a reward mechanism that lets us know that we did a good job. I don’t believe that there is any better way of starting your day than releasing endorphins. I called them the primal hormones as they are reassessed when we do things that ensure our survival. This also includes sex of course and eating. While most of us don’t have sex every day or eat like it is Thanksgiving each day, we can still take advantage of the pleasure of feeling this endorphin release through body building.

Personally at times I experience problems with anger issues. I don’t mind stupidity from other’s but ignorance drives me mad. This happens a lot when I am driving. When someone can’t reach over with just on finger to turn on a blinker to let me know they are turning… IGNORANCE. Red Lights in my head start flashing and the speakers blair out WARNING, WARNING, WARNING! My blood pressure starts to rise and feel the need to scream and raise a middle finger. Oh Yea, visions of me beating someone senseless play before my eyes. It ain’t pretty, that’s for sure. But lately I drive to work with endorphins swimming about through my body and I hardly even notice these assholes thinking only of themselves as they drive. And when I do I can just smile and say “Fuck It”, no need for me to get excited about such things as there are an endless supply of these assholes driving out here and I can just sit back and enjoy my Dolphin High. Ahhhhh

    hahaha…on the dolphin bit!! Don’t get me started on the stupidity of some drivers…ugh!! As far as endorphins go, that’s why I get up in the morning and exercise. It just makes me feel so much better throughout the whole day…of course my kids tell me I’m too “perky” for that early in the morning. lol

    This is your cutest ever!!

    You getting mad while driving is like me getting mad while food shopping. I’m petite and some asshole always rams me with their shopping cart.

    So I started doing little meditations before going to a supermarket. I also walk around with a smile on my face. Even though the smile is “fake” (when I’m shopping) I feel it softens my attitude when someone is a jerk to me.
