I am feeling super strong this morning and lifting hard and heavy. It seems that everything is falling into place right now. My diet was excellent yesterday as I drank a 17g protein drink after my workout and then another 25g protein drink midmorning with a few handfuls of pistachios. For lunch I ate half a pork chop, 1/2 of a sweet potato and a pile of cooked squash. Dinner was corned beef, cabbage and carrots. The results of these efforts are both my blood sugar is down and body weight down.
I am starting to really like this new routine as it is in perfect alignment with my work week. Monday through Friday I work hard at strength training and then go to work. On the weekends I do cardio and fast and let my muscles recover from the week long rips and tears.
It feels really good to finally be back into a position where I feel good about a workout and actually look forward to performing it each day. As you know I do love competition and sometimes tend to go slightly overboard with whatever I may be doing. This is another reason I am starting to love this workout as I find reason to do just a little better than the last time I worked a certain muscle group. With each step I know that I am making progress and it is leading me to a better place with my health. It also gives me reason to chill out in other aspects of my life as I go through my day. I don’t have to compete in everything I do because I know that I took care of the competition thing in the early morning. I don’t know why my mind works this way but it always does. Whatever task I take on I try to turn it into some type of game.
Maybe life itself is nothing more than a game we all play. I am not a sociologist so I really don’t know, but what I do know is that I have this gaming mentality going on each day of my life. I know that there are just certain area’s in life where it just doesn’t belong. Imagine trying to do as many downward dogs in 2 minutes while at a yoga session. Yea, No.
The heavy lifting in the morning takes the edge off the rest of the day. It takes away most of the stress and allows me to make better judgements without getting hyped up about a particular situation that I may be dealing with. Most of my anger has already been worked out with those last reps in each set that I do. The world get’s to experience a better me. I don’t fly off the handle with some of the stupid things people say or do. I make the choice of just smiling and saying to myself, “Whatever”. I just place all of the crap that I see and hear each day into a bank in my brain and work it all out in the morning.
