Happy Memorial Day

decoration_day_00576_some_gave_all-smHappy Memorial Day. Today is a time to remember all of the brave souls who gave their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy here in America. Our strength as a Nation is a tribute of the strength of those individual souls who made the ultimate sacrifice because they believed we as a country are worth fighting for. Throughout our history all evils that faced us were presented with our service men and women willing to defend the Red, White and Blue flag that flies so proudly upon our public buildings from sea to shining sea.

There are many out there who simply don’t believe in or understand the barbaric acts of war. The very thought of losing a son or daughter to what they believe to be senseless acts of violence in the name of some agenda. It is heart saddening to find ourselves in a situation to suffer the lose of any child, brother or sister. We are progressing in so many other area’s as a species from medicine, technology and a comfortable way of living yet it seems that war goes on as battles are constantly being fought around the world.

Humans have always been tribal even in our primal days and unfortunately I don’t believe that will ever change. As individuals we are very competitive with each other and this shines through in every middle school across our country. As individuals form groups based on a shared belief the feeling of competition is intensified further to attain a certain goal. To understand this all we have to do is observe a newly formed street gang. Be it territory, money or notoriety individuals pull together and find ways of pushing their agenda’s on those around them.

Knowing the very nature of human kind it is difficult for me to believe any other thoughts about the importance of protecting the American way of life. There are countries across the globe who believe the same as we Americans believe and when a League of Nations was formed it created the largest group of people in history to push for world peace. Peace can only be attained through force although this thought also saddens me I know in my heart that it is true. Strength is the great barrier in the defense of the good from the evil while it is also the very tool used by the evil in this world. America’s very strength is it’s power of defense that is put in place to convince other’s that it may not be a smart thing to try to attack our country. When individuals are willing to sacrifice their very lives to be a part of this defense mechanism the same spirit that defeated England during our revolution shines through.

All across this land National Cemeteries fly the America Flag for each individual who has put the lives of others before their own in the name of freedom. Today I honor each one of them in a salute of gratitude.
