Diabesity War Day #8 – 1 Week Review

Weekly-Review-1I have completed 1 full week of working the Diabesity War and want to do a quick recap. My overall body weight has dropped 1 pound since day one and my morning glucose readings have been in the range of between 100 – 110. I have been averaging a calorie burned on the treadmill of about 300 calories burned per 40 minute walk while I have also been averaging around 2.6 miles walked during this same period. The strength building routine I have been doing on the treadmill seems to be getting easier each time even as I am raising the weight on each exercise slightly each time. My muscles are demanding more resistance although I am making sure that I don’t overdue it as I only raise the weight a small amount. I have balanced the intermittent fasting between doing a full 18 hours one day followed by a 14 hour fast the next. I am not bothered by hunger in the morning and when I do eat breakfast it consists of just some berries and nuts. I have discovered that I love eating salads with virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar and have learned about the benefits of using coconut oil for cooking.

IMG_0028_FotorOverall I feel healthier and am noticing significant changes in the way my body feels when I take a shower. I took several pictures last Sunday and took a few this morning of my body and compared them. Although I notice a slight difference between the two the one thing that really stands out is the pride I noticed on my face. Also I noticed a little more room in my waist band. While not perfect it was a good week and I will certainly build upon my successes and learn from my failures.

I did a full 18 hour Intermittent Fast yesterday as I didn’t eat until 12 noon. For lunch I ate a salad, a small bowl of tomato soup and 1/2 of a roast beef sandwich. We dinner out at around 5:00 PM at a German Restaurant called Gustav’s. I had a salad, pork, red cabbage and mashed potato. So let’s take a look at some of the things I could have done without. Obviously the bread in the roast beef sandwich could have been thrown to the birds. At dinner I should have passed on the mashed potato’s and opted to just eat the pork and red cabbage. Eating out sucks but because we had to run to the hospital to see our premie Granddaughter Gustov’s was the healthiest place in the area.

    Great first week! This weekly recap should prove to be really valuable in seeing your progress, in your numbers, your reflection on what went well and what didn’t, and seeing the progress in PICTURES would be a huge incentive for yourself! Well done.
    Mmm.. I was craving german the other day while driving past our local german restaurant. It always seems so delicious in your mind until you sit down and it’s a giant hunk of meat with very little green veggies or sides haha.
