Oh Christmas Tree

treeresizedIt was another rainy day yesterday and the perfect opportunity to get a few things done around the house. I managed to get the Christmas tree up which wasn’t too difficult as it is just a very small artificial tree that is now sitting upon a round table. The lights are already pre-attached and I only placed minimal ornaments upon it.

This feeling of going all out on the holidays has also changed as I get older. I remember crawling around on my roof attaching lights to make the house an incredible work of art. I just don’t have it in me anymore and I certainly have no ambition to pay the electric bill to fund such a project. I remember it being a tradition as early as watching my great grandfather string his lights each year the plugging everything in and standing with pride as the house lit up as the sun set.

I know that I am not becoming one of those grumpy old men who despises the holiday. I certainly love so many other things about it. I have just lost my attraction for decoration although after finishing the last touches on the tree, like my great grandfather I did stand back and adore it with pride.

Such a pleasant looking tree. I think I like it because the ornament arrangement is balanced so nicely. Our tree will not be like that, I’m sure. We’ll be lucky to get it up and throw a few ornaments on it. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
