Progress with Inactivity

diabetic-blood-sugar-levels-wl7vxyhvAfter close to 5 days of no workouts at all I am looking at my blood sugar this morning at 85. I didn’t do anything different yesterday other than sleeping in an extra hour his morning. Sometime I just don’t understand. I am slowly getting to the point where I am starting to believe that my best course of action is very little action at all.

Although I haven’t been working out I certainly am moving all day at work and maybe that is enough to keep my body in balance. I still have the desire to workout but this time I am going to think lang and hard about the approach I take next week.

As my blood sugar is going down my body weight is also following but not as quickly. With a reduced hunger during the working day my caloric intake is also decreasing.

    • The job is going great. I am learning a lot and each day seems to just fly by. I am still waiting for all of the technology I need set up, but you know how that goes. With my computer background I know that I will be able to make some positive changes in the way things are being done, but the first step is to start from the ground floor. As far as the beast is concerned he will have to be happy just going for walks now and then.

    Glad to see the sugar levels down. Nice to see the correlation between calorie intake and body weight. Have you ever considered a more gradual approach to cardio and resistive exercises. I have had great success with patients that were willing to keep a food diary for 30 days and create meals based on need rather than want (AND stick with them during this 30 day period), reduce the intensity and duration of their workouts, create some limited self time to reduce and channel stress, drink water and tea or coffee in place of juices and alcohol and increase there quality sleep to 7-9 hours daily. These restrictions were only created for 30 days to provide enough time for good change without making the person feel significant deprivation.
    The purpose of this plan is simply to prove to oneself that it is possible to participate in a lifestyle that can achieve desired results (including sugar levels, weight loss, improved blood pressure, etc). Succeeding with this approach provides a basis to fall back on if lifestyle begins spiraling in a harmful direction. For many, once they saw they could have improved control over their health, they chose to follow this path to reduce stress and enjoy life from a new perspective. I hope this information provides some benefit.

  5. after trying hard to “fix” my blood sugar, i discovered i had no clue how to predict what would contribute to blood sugar over the roof as opposed to keeping it low. food items i thought was a no-no made no positive raise, while those items i thought safe was not. i’m usually a fairly high energy person, but except for walking the dog, do not have an exercise regime such as you’ve described. most of the time, i’m okay. those times i “feel funny” and checked–blood sugar wasn’t the issue. so for me diabetes is the same big question mark at this point (several years now) as at diagnosis. now, i simply try not to over-due sweets.

    • It really is crazy. I am starting to believe that it has more to do with when we eat apposed to what we eat. Obviously we should all be eating healthy, but with sugar which included carbs maybe it’s better to eat them earlier in the day.
