Celebrations, Food and Good Times with Family

unnamedDuring times of Celebration it is easy to go overboard with food and yesterday was certainly no different. Although I cooked all morning and didn’t eat much, it was all of the wrong foods that I was eating. I ended up eating a half of a bagel for breakfast followed by a BLT on rye for brunch. We visited a few museums and ended up at a Whiskey Bar for lunch. Of course I wasn’t drinking whiskey but they did have the most interesting menu of small plates and appetizers. Dinner was at the rehearsal dinner BBQ bash at the brides parents farm. More incredible food and way too much of it ended up in my belly. So here I sit with high sugar and increased body weight. All I have to say about this is “Hey, it is a Celebration”.

It was a lot of good time spent with incredible people and I enjoyed every moment of the day. My mission is so important an you all know how I strive for perfection each day in maintaining a good blood sugar reading, but good times spent with family is sacred and I will get past this celebration and pick up where I left off. The important thing is to totally engulf in times like these and create a lasting memory for a lifetime.

There are so many things that we can find stress over when family gets together, but what I have learned is that by living in the moment and taking in all of the positive things that life has to offer you don’t have much time left to feel the stress of other things. The one thing I do regret is not taking enough pictures and I have to stay mindful of capturing as much of these times as I possibly can.
