The PC Battle Continues…

boxing_fighting_108398The PC is still driving me crazy as I am still attempting to upgrade from Windows 8.0 to 8.1. I made it down to 6 updates from 191 where I started and I can’t seem to get the system to accept any of them. I figured out that if I turned of automatic updates I could install these updates individually but so many required a restart that it took just as long. It appears that Windows is allowing me to download the 8.1 update which is 3.6 gigabyte so we shall see by the end of the day where I am at.

Thank God my blood sugar came back down again. This whole process is getting confusing for me, but I certainly cannot argue with science. If I am not lifting weights and my blood sugar is reduced, but it rises after I do work out with weights then I am getting the signal that it doesn’t take much inflammation to make it rise. This is simply telling me that I need to concentrate more on my diet and and give the weight lifting a rest. With a lot of business around this wedding I believe that I will continue on my path to avoid working out at all and when it is over I will put together a plan of simple exercises and a walking schedule.

As we pack and get ready for our big move back to Ft Worth, we too feel the frustration of PC’s acting up. My husband has been trying to get his ducks in a row with all the paperwork involved, and now the printer won’t recognize his new PC! It will print but not scan from his new machine-he has down loaded all the necessary software…to no avail. Oh, well. Time is short, the move is Sunday, we may just have to figure it out once we get settled. Soldier on and keep fighting to gain control of your health and that crazy machine of yours. I’ll be following your progress.

I feel your pain. Last night, we had a 5 second power outage at our home. I was watching a DVD on my Windows 7 machine. When I powered the computer back up, I got an ugly looking error message telling me to insert my repair disc.

So far, I’ve gotten the computer to let me login but it hangs on the Welcome screen. It won’t even boot into Safe Mode, which is a bad sign. I know what I’m going to be doing after work today.

    • Oh the dread of it all. LOL. I am so done with Microsoft Operating Systems.

I wish I could be done with MS, but the publishing industry is still heavily biased toward Microsoft products and I use this PC for writing. I’ve also got lots of other data on that computer that I want back.

      • Oh, I do understand. The only microsoft program I really use anymore is excel for finances, but I am learning Mac’s version called Numbers. I hope to soon convert all of my work over to it. I also have a majority of my email coming through Outlook.com and will slowly change everything over to my iCloud account. For the past 4 days I worked hard to try to get that system back up and running but feel as though there are too many conflicts with the long list of updates that microsoft requires you to download and install. I know they are a good company and their products are excellent, but it is certainly at a price.

  3. i’m so there will your attempt to upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1. jumped through all the hoops and then some. VERY frustrating and seems i no sooner got that accomplished then they were encouraging me to upgrade to 10. hmm….not so sure about that. i hate upgrading anything–usually makes it worse. and the exercise for the blood sugar….i walk my dog. gave up trying to track my blood sugar–it never seemed to make sense. i’ll learn thru you.

  4. I am a patient man Billy but by now I think that bloody P.C would have been filed in the round filing cabinet under my desk. Kudos for your ability to stick it out!

Windows 8.1 is much much better than W8, I know sometimes things with windows is exasperating, even for a guy who has been using windows since version 3 like me. Good luck with the upgrade and if I can give you a hand let me know Billy please.

Hello…we had to reload a bunch of drivers before ours would work, it took hooking it up to a line from the router and not on Wi-Fi…then after that we were able to finish the down loads….our is a HP-7.1 its been upgraded to 8.0 , its working really well right now…but until we re-enstalled some of the drivers it wasn’t working right…just a thought…kat
