Another Reason to Love my Mac

mac-pcAnother day yesterday of getting things done. The yard is once again manicured and the two guest rooms and bathroom are spotless and ready for guests. Another productive weekend.

In the mean time I did something crazy. I decided to bring my windows laptop back to factory settings and it wasn’t too hard. All I had to do was put the restore CD in and follow the menu. The problem came when I went to sign in to my Macbook Pro and it was asking me for an old iCloud account instead of my most recent one. After trying many options I suddenly realized that I was locked out. I did some research and learned that the only way to recover was to completely wipe out my hard drive by using a startup utility that would both unmount and erase everything on my hard drive. This I did and the Macbook Pro started up into retrieving the Apple original software from the internet. This process took 4 hours but worked well. I was able to sign in to my iCloud account and retrieve most of my original settings.

After this event I realized that I was a dumb ass for wiping the windows PC clean and I should have kept it in tack for emergencies. So as of around 2:00 PM yesterday I am still restoring the piece of equipment. I was able to find my upgrade to windows 8 but I have to upgrade to windows 8.1 to download the free version of windows 10. I can’t upgrade to 8.1 until the computer loads all 190 updates to the system. I was also able to find my install of Office 2013 and get that loaded. This whole process is insane and reminds me that I did make a good choice with switching over to Mac.

I am very pleased with my numbers this morning and continue to thrive in many ways with health issues. Even with the lack of intense exercise I am doing very well.

That’s a bummer you had to go through all that but maybe you can answer a question for me now…my husband set up my MAC with my first name misspelled accidentally-where do I go in to correct this?

Microsoft is making Windows a bigger mess all the time. Meanwhile, Apple customers adore Macs.

  3. Don’t go back to the DARK SIDE Billy, stay here with us Macs, in the light and good side šŸ˜‰

  4. Constant updates may be just means to drive sales or these may be business strategies. Unfortunately, we are becoming so dependent on tehnology that it seems difficult to resist the constant updates. E.g., update your apps or bear with constant reminders or risk not been able to use them šŸ™‚

    • I originally had plans to sell it and had to clear everything out, but now I have decided to just keep it after all. I am still working on it. Ahhhhh Makes the beast want to come out.

I was told even if you clear them the still can have old data stored in them, I am not sure where as we just reset my husbands computer back to factory specs…we loaded windows 10 and hated it so we uninstalled it and it took out a lot of the hard drives with it, so I had a friend who is a computer wiz come over and reset it…works fine now but we lost everything….

      • I always move or back up my important stuff to a thumb drive before I do anything. I made it down to 49 updates but each time I do it it only installs a few at a time and then I have to start all over again. Ahhhhh. All this to get stupid windows 8.1 so I can upgrade to 10.

aren’t computers fun….LOL my husbands computer had 171 up dates at the time of reset…plus we have to re-install drivers do it would take the updates….but still its working just fine with windows 7 yay…fingers crossed…he doesn’t do much on it, check the bank and credit card accounts..his .u-tube music and Skype his brother in Germany….so he’s a happy camper at the moment…
