article-1339563-0C85C12F000005DC-950_468x332The long weekend is over and it is time to return to the daily grind of earning a paycheck. While home I spent the last 2 days being very physically active around the house. The results of all of this activity is than my blood sugar came back down to normal. This just proves to me that like I have said in earlier posts that working a physical job alone is enough to keep good blood sugar control.

Yesterday I worked for 4 hours straight removing my existing ground cover in the front flower bed and replacing it. I trimmed and cleaned up all plants that needed it after a very hot summer and pulled weeds and their roots. I bagged up all of the old ground cover, re-leved the ground, planted Mums and put down new bark dust. I didn’t think about eating the whole morning and ended up getting pretty dirty. Another added benefit to getting my hands in the soil is that I probably picked up some new good bacteria to help to restore my gut flora.

So overall even though I lost money for being off on Labor Day it turned into a positive day. I learned that after making this move to Florida I will seek out to work a little more physical each day in a job that I choose. My days of sitting behind a desk for 9 hours each day has to come to an end.

Tomorrow I will resume my workout regime and continue to get my daily exercise in as I have been, but I am hoping that one day I will not need to think about getting in daily physical activity.

Ain’t workin’ in the dirt grand? I like the trade-off you made between simple living (taking an unpaid day off to play in the dirt). Sounds like your body really likes physical work. I hope you can find something satisfying soon!

Great numbers my friend….did you make any mud pies??? We played in the mud for hours and my mother was always gracious enough to dole out her aluminum pie pans and old spoons….she even let us decorate the pies with flowers….great fun, I am sure its one of the reason I love messing in the dirt…LOL
