Buying Wife Beaters

So my fascination continues as I am still taking pictures of the incredible tree’s here in the Riverview Neighborhood here in Tampa Florida. I have extended my walk to a little over an hour this morning and got out a little later as to get a little more vitamin D in.

My Blood Sugar came in at a 115 and even though I am taking walks each day I believe that it is certainly no comparison to working out with weights. Still I will continue my walks and see where it takes me as I really don’t have much of a choice anyway. With a nice rest for my muscles after three hard weeks of beast mode exercise I am noticing the they are healing nicely and getting bigger. My shirt sleeves are tight around my biceps and I may seen have to go clothes shopping. I will pick up a few “wife beaters” in different colors to avoid the sleeve issue for now.

For those of you who have never heard of the term wife beater, it is basically a guinea tea shirt. It was termed from the classical alcoholic from New York who would sit outside with his fat hairy gut hanging out after a few beers and giving his wife a good beating. How freakin’ sad is that? If I have offended any of you wife beater still in existence, Oh Fucking Well!

The weather continues to be nice here and one of my favorite things are the afternoon thunderstorms. They pass through within just an hour or two and bring along the rumble of thunder and shock of lightning.

  1. Over here in the U.K we refer to “Wife Beaters” as a specific drink Stella Artois.
It is a high ABV lager and gets the drinker plastered fairly quickly with the inevitable tendency toward fighting. Unfortunately some lesser men take this violence home to their spouses and thus it’s moniker is established. Go to the bar and ask for a pint of “wife Beater” and any bar tender worth their salt will now exactly what you are asking for…!
    Shocking really!
P.S Pictures look great. Certainly a lovely place to be.

Oh gosh, the wife-beater. Surely you could find a better option?? And to your previous commenter, I find this nickname for Stella Artois quite hilarious because I do advertising for this brand in the States, and it is marketed as a ‘high-end, classy and sophisticated’ brand! Too funny.

I fell in love with all the different trees in the south and Florida seems to have them all….nothing as pretty as the Spanish moss hanging down….I went to pick some at one of the parks we were at, the owner came running out to tell me not to touch it, its full of chiggers…I was really happy he saw me….he also told me they used it back in the 50’s to stuff the seats in cars….. beautiful pictures…looks like your having a really good time….hope you will have a tan to go with those wife beaters….LOL

The title was intriguing and somewhat alarming…I had no idea. Glad I read your post as I learned something new. lol 🙂

Well thanks Bill for the photos, I love nature in Florida! Keep them coming! Thank you!

  6. wear ‘wife beaters’ all of the time! Love ’em. Next time you are on vacay and don’t have weights try doing some body strength exercises like plank, spider lunges, variation pushups (triceps, wide, military etc)…this will give you the ability to work on your upper body even when away 🙂 You can always travel with some heavy resistence bands also…they are great to travel with!
