Just Another Simple Sunday

6a016300f919ba970d01bb08280422970d-500wiIt is a simple Sunday and the sun will shine brightly today. I have things to do today not because I have to them, but because I choose to do them. This is one of the things that I believe that living a simple life is all about. I am obligated all week long, but not on the weekend. The weekend is the time I can relax and choose to do those things that I feel bring great value to my life. Right now I have decided to sit in the garden in my morning clothes and do a little reading. There is no need to look at the clock because there is nothing that I have to do.

We all know that there are things that we must do to survive in this life. We must earn a living to provide for those things essential to life like food and shelter and we do have plenty of time for this during the week. But the weekend, or at least one day on the weekend should belong to our soul. I may decide to plant a few more vegetable plants or herbs in my garden today because I choose to do it. I don’t have to do it, but I know that it will bring me great joy.

What does your weekend look like? Do you have at least one day a week to feel the freedom you were born into? If not, don’t you think that you are entitled to it? Isn’t it just possible that you can make for yourself a Simple Sunday?

I spent yesterday learning the mechanics of a new video game that the clan I lead is going to be playing shortly. I played my bass, watched some TV and spent time reading Facebook posts. Today I am headed to the shooting range with some friends from work, and then lunch at a local winery.

I too would love to grow vegetables, but the deer population simply will not allow it. Of course the other side of the equation is, I’m a bit lazy. πŸ™‚ So my wife and I plan to spend lots of money at the local farmer’s market this summer and can the excess for fresh veggies over the winter.

I wish it were a simple Sunday. Have to take out a tree, fix some boards on my fence, and use sod to patch some damaged/compromised areas of my lawn. Worked pretty much on chores all day yesterday, and next weekend, I have to travel to Portland for a conference. Hoping the end of this month will settle down.

Have a good and relaxing Sunday.

  6. Have a great simple day!

  7. Amazingly enough, my post tomorrow is talking about my Sunday laziness, only getting active by luck. Because I work from home, I choose that Sunday is a day of pure rest for me which allows the walking and the gym on other days along with my commercial writing activities. Mind you. Things never work out how we plan and if I get ants in my pants, well there can be no stopping me some Sundays…!

Sounds lovely to sit and read in the garden. Sunday is my day to just chill and not do much of anything.
