Blood Sugar – 103
So I totally forgot that I could use my I Phone on Verizon as a personal hotspot. So I am working off of the laptop once again.
Today we will be leaving Bradenton and heading out to Miami. We are due to check in at 4:00 PM and will allow ourselves at least 6 hours of driving time as the traffic so far here in Florida is pretty bad. And we will have to stop for lunch which I am hoping to find some Cuban food along the way. I am up early today and already outside drinking a cup of coffee in the humid darkness of the time before sunrise.
Yesterday we went to a pre season baseball game. The Boston Redsox beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1. It was interesting as I haven’t attended a professional Baseball game in many, many years. Actually I have lost great interest in the game as a busy schedule doesn’t allow much time for watching sports. But it did bring about a lot of pleasant memories of the days as a kid playing the game. What really got my attention was the fans. There were many people there from all age groups and most of them were true baseball fans as they were wearing all of the garb and spoke amongst themselves about stats and scores. You had your typical cat callers who would yell out at the players in their loud, commanding tones.
I suppose that this is the tradition throughout the years that has taken a small group of kids playing the game in a sand lot to the multi-billion dollar business that it is today. I couldn’t count the number of corporations who support these teams with advertising on 10 hands. Don’t get me wrong, I do love sports and I think we all should be involved in playing these games as a matter of health and good socialization, and I suppose that it is important that these sports build role models as a stepping stone for our kids to get excited about getting involved in playing the games. I did totally enjoy watching the game and often pictured myself out there on the field playing.
I am still eating not to the best of my ability and my blood sugar remains above 100, but I know that in a few days I will be back to my normal routine and things will go back to normal. Well, I better get packing and preparing for the road to Miami. Until next time, Billy Out.
