01-22-15 – Thursday – Cacoa

chocolate
So, with all of the changes to my diet recently, one of the items that is on the “NO” list is obviously sugar. Sugar is a drug, and the body produces all of the sugar in needs for energy from carbs and proteins. Yet, I have learned that it OK to eat a piece of dark chocolate on occasions as it is loaded with antioxidants. Now, when I say dark chocolate I am referring to the very dark chocolate of over 80% cacao. Not cocoa, but cacao which is pronounced KA COW. It is the purest form of chocolate derived from the cacao bean. So what happens when the human mind wraps itself around something? Well, it goes with it, and redefines the the word occasional to once a day, and then twice a day. Well, I seem to have worked my way up to a few small pieces after lunch and after dinner and in my mind have declared this action as OK, as it is a healthy food. NOT! I have proven this in my blood sugar test this morning that has shown that over occasional cacao brought my blood sugar back up over 100. So guess what? Chocolate contains SUGAR.  I am redefining the word occasional to mean “Once-a-week”.
