01-17-15 – Saturday – A Paleo Vegan

Viral_infection
OK folks, it is day #4 of having this cold and yesterday I had a major breakthrough. My nose stopped running and I regained 90% of my energy. I know my body is still fighting the foreign invaders this morning so I will not go and jump into a workout for the sake of allowing my immune system to clean up the battle field. I do find it amazing just how quickly I got over this cold. Others at work have been battling it for over two weeks. I attribute this victory to multiple things. I am in good physical shape, I quit smoking, I have a well balanced diet and I provided my body with plenty of rest.

I am happy with both my blood sugar being under 100 this morning and my body weight dropping to yet another all time low since I started getting healthy. With this and the combination of my cold going away it certainly makes for a great start to the weekend. I may just spend much quiet time this weekend trying to finish up Robb Wolf’s, The Paleo Solution and watch the Seattle Seahawks try to beat the Greenbay Packers.
humans-are-not-broken I listened to Angelo Coppola’s most recent podcast yesterday on Humans are not Broken. Angelo stirred up a great deal of interest in something that I have been thinking a great deal about. Angelo moved his paleo way of eating to more of a vegan’s diet but with good healthy meats. I couldn’t agree more as I remember how good I felt when I was a vegan. I actually loved the vegan diet other than that I felt like I was hungry all of the time. But by simply adding good healthy grass fed meats this would make for a perfect whole foods diet. Angelo you inspire me.

  1. I know a lady that went vegan. She got sick for a little while as her body was detoxing but once she recovered she says she felt better than she ever had. She didn’t stick with it though. Not because she didn’t enjoy being vegan or reap benefits from it but because it wasn’t always convenient. Her family wasn’t vegan and when they would go out together there weren’t usually many, if any, vegan options. Something to think about.

The paleo diet is kind of an odd trend – it is based on what we ‘think’ cavemen ate. In actuality they probably ate a lot of bugs and wildebeast – not on my menu. And they lived to be the ripe old age of about 30-35? Common sense and organic will clean the toxins that have plagued our foods with hordes of chemicals that our bodies can not metabolize and store. Hope you beat this thing! As a cancer survivor, I can relate ~
