06-26-14 – Thursday – Outside Looking In

outside “Sometimes we need to take a good look at our lives from the outside looking in” Billy Brennan

Another good day with a morning glucose under 100 at 97 and weight dropping to 174. I can’t believe that it is Thursday already. This week is going by so quickly. We booked our flights to Colorado for our trip in August and I am sure that it will be here before we know it. The cost of these flights set us back 800.00 of savings with our plan to save 20,000.00 and refinance to get rid of the stupid 195.00 we pay each month for mortgage insurance. But that is OK. It will still happen in good time and patience will guide us there. We do need a mini vacation. The routine of the every day must be broken time and again. It gives you time to get away and reflect on your life. I suppose it is like taking a good look at your life from the outside. Sometimes we can see certain things more clearly when we are on the outside looking in. This may be the key to living our dream. Not as someone else looking in, but as ourselves looking into the window of our lives in general.

We go through these everyday routines day in and day out and sit back at times and ask ourselves why. Why do I do the things that I do. If you have an answer then it all makes these daily routines something positive. If not then we need to make certain adjustments to fine tune our lives. Some are small changes and some are great like going back to school, but the dream can simply not exist without change.

Are we getting all of the joy out of life that we possibly can? If not, then we have to ask ourselves why. I know that I have to sometimes realize that there is joy in each day of my life and all I have to do to experience it, is to notice it. It is all around us and usually right in front of us. A laughing baby or the scent of beautiful flowers can only be experienced if we are open to them. A beautiful sunrise does not exist if we don’t see it. We must continue on our paths, but remember to take the time to quiet the mind and experience all that life is around us. Remember to smile even when we don’t feel like smiling and being one who brings joy to other lives as others bring joy to us. The circle goes around and around and only continues if we continue to spin with it.

  1. Sam says:

Do you think this is the kind of thing that comes with age/wisdom? I have started finding the joy in all kinds of things. I’m not 50+ but as I evolve, I find myself taking it easy and realizing that there are fewer things to be stressed or worried about. I can look at life from a different perspective and see more.
Thanks for this post to help me remember to keep it up!

    • I think it is something we just wake up to one day at any age Sam. I also believe that we do it over and over again because we get so caught up in life that we simply forget about the beauty and joy around us.

  2. Oh so true, mini vacations (I call them me-time) are important. Just walking away for a while “time to smell the roses” helps me to stay focus and it makes me smile!
